The Writer’s Block Podcast is a community-centered podcast exploring the intersection of creativity, storytelling, and healing. Produced by TRFMEDIA, the series creates space for honest, vulnerable conversations about what blocks creatives from fully expressing themselves—and how those blocks can be transformed into clarity, purpose, and momentum.
Hosted by L.A. Wade, an author, director, and mental health advocate, the podcast invites artists, writers, filmmakers, and cultural workers into thoughtful dialogue around creative resistance, emotional well-being, identity, and self-trust. Each episode centers lived experience, encouraging guests and listeners alike to reflect on their own creative journeys and the internal narratives that shape them.
As producer, Tiku Roemello “Mello” Fisher brings a documentary-informed approach to the podcast, shaping conversations that are grounded, intentional, and community-minded. The goal is not only to talk about creativity, but to explore how storytelling functions as a tool for healing, resilience, and connection—especially within underrepresented communities.
The Writer’s Block Podcast is more than a show—it’s an invitation. An invitation to pause, to listen deeply, and to ask the question:
What’s blocking you—and what’s possible on the other side of it?

Getting Unblocked with Dorly Jean-Louis:
Style, Strength & Self-Belief
In this powerful episode of The Writer’s Block Podcast, actor, model, stylist, and former boutique owner Dorly Jean-Louis shares her journey through fashion, film, resilience, and reinvention.
From the very beginning, Dorly’s love of style was shaped by her mother, who sewed her church dresses, and by the elegance of classic Hollywood icons like Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly. But beyond the glamour, her story is rooted in discipline, excellence, and perseverance—values instilled by her Haitian immigrant parents. Her father demanded excellence. Her mother modeled quiet strength. Together, they raised a woman who doesn’t wait for validation—she creates her own.
Dorly opens up about growing up without constant praise and how that experience shaped her independence and internal drive. “I don’t expect validation,” she says. “I do my thing.” That mindset has fueled her career in both fashion and acting, where she emphasizes preparation, presentation, and precision.
She speaks candidly about navigating the entertainment industry as a Black woman—acknowledging challenges like nepotism and limited roles—while choosing to focus on what she can control: her craft, her curiosity, her consistency, and her courage. Rather than waiting to be discovered, Dorly believes in creating opportunities. “Don’t wait,” she says. “Create it.”
One of the most pivotal moments in her journey was making the difficult decision to fire an agent who no longer aligned with her growth. Trusting her intuition led her to new representation that actively champions her talent—proving that sometimes the biggest breakthroughs come after releasing what no longer serves you.
Dorly also reflects on entrepreneurship, sharing the emotional story of launching and eventually closing her own boutique, Dorly Designs, during the recession and after the passing of her mother. While painful, that chapter brought closure and pride—her mother lived to see her daughter build something from the ground up.
Throughout the episode, Dorly reveals what success means to her now: saying yes to growth, embracing visibility, and stepping into spaces she once would have avoided. From hosting aspirations to landing defining roles, she is clear about her vision—and unapologetic about pursuing it.
Her message to creatives and dreamers alike is simple but powerful:
- Trust your instincts
- Keep your circle tight.
- Celebrate your wins.
- Don’t wait for permission.
Above all, Dorly reminds us that resilience is built quietly, confidence is cultivated internally, and growth begins the moment we choose to unblock ourselves.
Stay in it to win it.
