Sacred Water: A Special Screening & Men’s Talk-Back Experience

Thursday, December 4 • 6:30 PM – 10:00 PM
Hosted by: Mic Truth, L.A. Wade, Myka Kandake
Sacred Water Film Club: Men’s Edition
After a powerful, sold-out women’s screening in November, the demand was immediate and clear:
the men wanted their own night.
A space to watch, reflect, question, and speak freely among other men guided by facilitators who understand both the sensitivity and the urgency of the conversation.
In response, The Black Lens Society is proud to present Sacred Water: The Men’s Only Screening & Talk-Back an intimate gathering created specifically for Black men seeking clarity, insight, connection, and perspective. This event is presented in collaboration with the Toronto Pan Afrikan Film Festival (TPAFF), ThisisLAWade Inc., and TRF Media.
This session will be co-facilitated by Mic Truth, multi-lingual artist and Host, L.A. Wade and Myka Kandake, two women deeply committed to supporting Black men’s healing journeys. Their role in this space is to listen, hold, and guide, while honouring men’s voices, questions, and lived experiences.
This is not a lecture. This is not judgment. This is a safe space for men to understand themselves and the women in their lives on a deeper level.
Why a Men’s Sacred Water Event?
The first screening for women revealed topics, reflections, and truths that many men realized they had never heard, never asked about, or never been invited into.
This men’s experience is designed to:
- Build emotional literacy and self-reflection
- Explore themes around pleasure, intimacy, and cultural memory from a male lens
- Open conversations men rarely get to have — especially with other men
- Listen to and learn from insights shared by women in the first session
- Develop a deeper understanding of the Black feminine experience without blame or pressure
What to Expect
Each Film Club session blends:
- Film + Dialogue: Screening Sacred Water followed by intentional talk-back
- Guided Self-Reflection: Understanding identity, intimacy, and cultural expectations
- Collective Conversation: A safe, facilitated discussion shaped by men’s perspectives
- Community Connection: Brotherhood, insight, and shared clarity
- Local Black-Business Support: Light refreshments
